Good write up, the goalie situation is certainly tricky in Minny. Brzy, Marty and Thomas will still be there in six months if injuries/health problems occur. Fortunate for Minny it is a good year for supply of Vet goalies. This is an exciting team with the biggest question mark (in my mind) in goal. Again, this is the year for that to be much less and issue IMHO. Looking forward to the puck dropping.

Sometimes I just want to read a good hockey blog and not some sensationalist troll bait. Thanks Tony! Keep up the good work!

It's too bad with all the time and detailed info. that 3 people respond. Maybe too much for Minnesotans to read. The Wild need to keep 3 goalies in the mix as Harding and/or Backstom are subject to injuries. Bryz is way to inconsistent to trust. You need to sign Kuemper.

Nice right up bud

Wild are a young team, sign Darcy and shed the salaries of the other 2. The Wild are putting together a great young team, continue the blueprints and watch how much better you will become..

Is Nino playing top 6? or 3rd line? Wish him the best, good/nice kid

Good Blog.

Bryz showed last year he still has what it takes to be in the NHL and I'm sure he will get a camp invite somewhere.

Tony is probably the best writer on HB. His articles are interesting, which is a challenge when writing about the Minnesota Wild.

Or Wild fans are well aware that the goalie situation isn't perfect, but we have 3 goalies to deal with contractually first before we consider a 4th.....

Great work T! As usual. I think Backstroms role as the permanant back up to either Josh or Darcy is what Fletcher needs to establish. Unless Nick can get back to his old form, I don't want him as the number one other than spot starts. Injury or not, he looked bad last season, and honestly I think he started to slide a little bit during the lock out year as well.

I still have little faith in Harding. His treatments kept him out most of last season, why would this season be any different? That leaves you with Kuemper and Backstrom and I am not sold on either. Kuemper for the obvious, he has only 1 season in the NHL and Backstrom has not been very good since becoming the #1 over Dwyane Roloson or Manny Fernandez can't remember which. Unless Harding is healthy for a complete season I think Minny's goaltending will be a weakness.

It all depends. A good friend is battling MS and she had "issues" until they got her meds right etc. If they got Harding's meds right and he's given proper rest, I don't see why they couldn't run a 1A/1B situation with him and Backstrom. If Bryz is willing to do a 2-way contract I think that would help you guys out majorly if in need of a callup (though not sure Bryz would pass through waivers).

Even though I think he's flat out nuts, just as most goalies are, I've been rooting for Bryz for a while now. He's gotten a raw deal and I think he can be a legit number 1 again if give the chance with an above average d-core.

Yeah but it's a fact that he gets some of the fewest hots in here, which in unjust considering the quality of his blogs . Any wienerhead can write for a Canadian team and get hits.
At least he isn't like that Tanner guy, that just writes troll blogs to attract attention. Integrity as a writer is under appreciated .

I just can't see Bryz doing a 2 way contract. The second a goalie gets injured long term, Bryz will be the guy that gets signed. How awkward would it be if that team was Philly Always hated how he took blame for how bad the team was when he got no help at all on defence.

Huh?! In his first season with the Wild he had a .929 SV% and a 1.97 GAA. Aside from his last two injury riddled seasons, he's averaged right around .920 SV% and about a 2.40 GAA. Not sure I'd consider that "not very good".

Agreed. For some reason even Wild fans in the so called "state of hockey" don't pay much mind to the Minny blogs or HB in general.

We just started getting some fresh blood in here and it seems we still only have about 5 or 6 (regulars) Minny fans not including Tony.

First I appreciate all the kind words and support from the HB community NOT Minnesota Wild(WildHBcommunity) faithful.

I think although Minnesota is a hockey crazy state, people have yet to completely latch on to the Wild fully. It is very close but I still think people go to Russo or the other beat writers for Wild info specifically. Honestly this past season for me at Hockeybuzz was night and day different from start to finish with regard to reach and audience. I promise although maybe I dont get the mega page views and reads of the Original 8 and Canadian franchise writers, I was still able to draw people to my content and doing nearly on my own.

The Wild fans that do participate here are extremely educated on the Wild and hockey in general sothey keep me very honest with regard to my content. I literally never get TROLLED and disrespected which is RARE for someone that creates content and puts themselves out there.

It is very easy to dismiss how DIFFICULT and UNIQUE this goaltender situation is to handle for Fletcher and Yeo in Minnesota. That is why I wanted to provide and in depth piece profiling all 4 of these netminders.

Thanks for giving it a look and joining in the conversation!

Well you will notice in my article it is not about the money for Bryz as Philly is coming with those BIG annual buyout payments for a while.

Yep! Great point! Which is why I think he would sign a pretty humble deal to stay with the Wild. Russo reported that he really enjoyed his time here and said it was "the most satisfying experience" he's had in his career.

I do hope Bryz finds a home somewhere in the NHL, but it does seem like he's the odd man out. It'd be awesome to see Harding put together a solid, complete, healthy season.

I don't know, just guessing based on the comment section. You might be the one writer that doesn't fish for a thousand comments by saying something rediculous in the title. Anyway, not to dwell on it, just keep up the great work.
